![]() After 2-3 weeks they were able to recover many of the files, and many videos flagged as 'damaged' were alright or still had viewable segments. Details for the interested: One of my two drives took physical damage from falling, and contained many video files from personal projects over the years. They also hang on to your data for 30 days: in case something goes wrong they can provide you with the already-recovered data. It was very simple to submit a case and get things started the point-person I dealt with (Bob Giannoulis) was patient, informative, and helpful throughout the whole process. Each time I've been in contact with them they have been prompt, courteous, and professional. My experience at Memofix with the first case was so positive it was a no-brainer to return with the second. I had 2 hard drives fail on me within a month of each other. I would recommend Memofix based on my experience. It was disappointing in the end, but that had to deal with how damaged the drive was. They were truly focused on trying to provide me with a solution that I would be comfortable with. They weren't just interested in taking my money. Bottom line, I found Memofix to be a very honourable company to deal with. Bob was great to deal with and maintained good lines of communication throughout the process. After a discussion with Bob, I decided not to proceed as the costs would outweigh the benefits in this case. In the testing process, they had replaced drive heads in the lab to see if they could read anything and they were quickly damaged by the scarred surfaces. Memofix determined that the drive heads were damaged and the drive surfaces were so scarred that they were not confident that there would be enough data recovered to make it worth my while to proceed. I had committed to paying the expense, if it was possible to meet my data recovery goals. I met with Bob, the customer service representative, who was personable, helpful and is a good communicator. My goal was to proceed if I could be assured that I could recover the bulk of the files that were stored, increasing the chances that I would recover some of the files that were not backed-up elsewhere. Data recovery is an expensive service, especially when you have to pay it out of your own pocket vs. This was my personal mass back-up drive that it had some files were not stored elsewhere. I had dropped an external hard drive and could no longer access files. Now, the latter is particularly challenging task. Stop using the drive to maximize the possibility of a successful recovery and find a reputable recovery company. We chose to personally drive my hard drive to their Concord location but due to our location opted to pay for the UPS shipping back to us. While the whole process did take 3 weeks and unfortunately was not cheap, I would not hesitate to use their services again (though I have learned my lesson and hope I never have to)!! I thought I had lost 20 years of pictures and videos but Memofix was successful in recovering all but 10 files. The customer service I experienced was incredible to say the least - quick email response time and went out of their way to check in on my case as I was eager to keep track of the process.
